Good For a Laugh

Through humor,
you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers.
And  once you find laughter,
no matter how painful your situation might be,
you can  survive it.

Sometimes we all need a good laugh. Apart from the physical benefits (which science supports), it just plain feels good. Laughter can be a wonderful distraction and stress reliever, as well an amazing and powerful bonding agent between people.

I believe humor is a gift, and we are wise to use it well.

Hyperbole and a Half is wonderful beyond description. Please read it. Also, Allie has written some posts dealing with her depression. Read them here and here. If you have ever experienced depression or loved someone who has, read them. If you have never experienced depression or never loved someone who has, read them. The rest of her stuff is fantastically funny too. You will like it. “Alot.”

CakeWrecks.com is fantastic even if you are not a baker and all of your sugary concoctions are premixed by Betty Crocker. Look for the weekly Sunday Sweets, which features some of the most amazing and beautiful cakes you will ever see. On the other days of the week, take comfort in knowing that we are all capable of hilariously bad mistakes.

Do you like motivational posters? You’ll never look at them the same after you visit Despair.com. Do you hate motivational posters? Then you’ll love Despair.com. Take your slightly (or deeply) off-kilter sense of humor over and look around. Take your time. Enjoy a few belly laughs.

Passive-AggressiveNotes.com – Embarrassing? Or hilarious? Both, really.

Okay, so this one isn’t funny so much as awe-inspiring. Colossal Art and Visual Ingenuity (more than aptly named) focuses on art, design, and photography that is non-digital. Yes, there are some amazing people out there who have the patience to create huge yet intricate art by hand. I don’t happen to be one of those people, but I appreciate their work and sure am glad they exist. The Optical Illusion House is one of my favorites, and this stack of 15,000 books is something I’d love to have in my home, or even my home state. Wow.

Wish you had the time to compile the Top 10 Lists of Anything and Everything? Thankfully, someone else does the work and you just get to enjoy the fun, funny, interesting, and nerdy results.
